"Katon Karagai" and "Akzhaiyk" included to UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves
On June 12, 2014 the 26th session of the International Coordinating Committee of the UNESCO "Man and Biosphere" (MAB) Programme approved the decision to grant international status of "UNESCO Biosphere Reserve" for two Kazakh nature reserves – State National Natural Park "Katon Karagai" and "Akzhaiyk" Biosphere Reserve. Both protected areas have been included to the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
