Development and functioning of the state language

The state program for implementation of language policy in Kazakhstan for 2020 – 2025 is designed to maintain the harmonious language policy aimed at modernizing the Kazakh language based on Latin alphabet, further enhancing linguistic culture and developing linguistic capital ensuring the full functioning of the Kazakh language as the state language.
Key targets:
- the share of population using the Latin alphabet in written communication in 2022 – 10 %, in 2023 – 20 %, in 2024 – 30 %, in 2025 – 50 %;

the share of population speaking the state language: in 2021 – 91 %, in 2022 – 92 %, in 2023 – 93 %, in 2024 – 94 %, in 2025 – 95 %;

the share of the Kazakh language content in state-owned mass media: in 2021 – 75 %, in 2022 – 76 %, in 2023 – 77 %, in 2024 – 78 %, in 2025 – 79 %;

the share of population speaking three languages (Kazakh, Russian and English) – in 2021 – 27 %, in 2022 – 28 %, in 2023 – 29 %, in 2024 – 30 %, in 2025 – 31 %.
