ASEM: history, themes and importance
From 18 to 19 October, 2018 Brussels, Belgium will host the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit, which will be visited by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. For the first time the ASEM Summit was held in Bangkok, Thailand in March 1996. The idea of the Asia-Europe Meeting was initially brought up by Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Goh Chok Tong, at the third Europe/East Asia Economic Summit, with the aim of strengthening Asia-Europe relations.
