Where Samruk-Kazyna will invest in the coming years?
The third sitting of the Kazakh-British Business Council (KBBC) held in London was organized by “Samruk-Kazyna” National Welfare Fund JSC in conjunction with “Kazakh Invest” National Company JSC and the international business newspaper Financial Times. The event was attended by Chairman of the Board of the Fund Akhmetzhan Yessimov, representatives of companies and government agencies from the UK and Kazakhstan, Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to the information of Samruk-Kazyna NWF JSC.
In his welcoming speech, Akhmetzhan Yessimov noted that trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UK develops dynamically and in terms of the current investment portfolio the Fund can become a partner for British companies in oil and gas refining, development of mining projects, transport, logistics and energy sectors.
“Trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UK develops dynamically. The Kazakh-British Business Council, established in 2015, also contributes to this. Taking into account global economic trends, the Fund has approved a strategy aimed at diversifying income by investing in promising sectors: petrochemicals, renewable energy, high technology, Industry 4.0, as well as the creation of joint private equity funds with sovereign funds and large investment companies”, Yessimov stated.
The Chairperson also noted that over the next five years the Fund is going to invest more than 38 billion US dollars in the above-mentioned spheres, of which 32 billion US dollars are attracted investments, where British companies can participate as investors.
In turn, the British business community noted the good dynamics of relations with the Fund and praised the investment climate in Kazakhstan.
At the end of the speech, Akhmetzhan Yessimov invited British companies to intensify mutually beneficial cooperation and participate in the upcoming IPO/SPO three large portfolio companies of the Fund as part of the privatization program - Air Astana JSC, KazMunayGas National Company JSC, Kazakhtelecom JSC.
Yessimov emphasized that the Fund, along with the implementation of the privatization program, pays special attention to the implementation of the digital transformation program of the Fund's group of companies aimed at improving the competitiveness and reengineering of production processes of portfolio companies.
The KBBC was established in 2015 as part of the First President of Kazakhstan Nazarbayev’s visit for the development of business relations, cooperation in various sectors of the economy between Kazakhstan and the UK.
