Turkmenistan State Symphony Orchestra performed works from Abai opera
In honor of the 175th anniversary of great Kazakh poet, composer and educator Abai Kunanbaiuly in Ashgabat on the stage of the National Music and Drama Theater named after Makhtumkuli the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan, led by artistic director Rassul Klychev, performed works from the Abai opera by Akhmet Zhubanov and Latif Khamidi, Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
Accompanied by the orchestra, Turkmen tenor Nury Nuryev sang Aidar’s aria and opera singer, soprano Leyli Okdirova sang “Karlygash” song.
In his congratulatory speech, chief conductor Klychev noted that the Kazakh and Turkmen peoples share common historical and cultural roots and he is very pleased to pay tribute to great Abai, who brought Kazakh culture to new heights.

In turn, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan Yerkebulan Sapiyev expressed his sincere gratitude to the vocalists, the State Symphony Orchestra and the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan for organizing this cultural event and contribution to the promotion of the eternal values of the creative heritage of great poet of the Kazakh people Abai Kunanbaiuly.
