Turkey held 1st meeting of the Executive Council of Asian Parliamentary Assembly
The Turkish city of Rize played host to the 1st meeting of the Executive Council of Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), where Ryskali Abdikerov, Deputy of the Senate of Parliament, took part, the lower house’s press service informs.
The meeting saw the sessions of the Standing Committees on Social and Cultural Matters, Economic and Sustainable Development, Political Affairs, Budget and Planning, as well as the election of members of the Bureau, as well as Qatar and East Timor’s bids to join the APA were considered.
The Standing Committees’ draft resolutions were also addressed, especially the resolution on inter-religious dialogue and harmony among world religions of the Standing Committee on Social and Cultural Matters stressed the role of the 5th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions to foster global dialogue between religions.
Representatives of Russia, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Bhutan, Kuwait, Qatar, East Timor, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Palestine, Bahrain, Afghanistan and Cambodia were in attendance.
