Transit air passenger flow rose by 45-fold in past 7 years, reaches 1 million by year-end
According to head of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development, Beibut Atamkulov, there has been an overall increase in the key indicators of civil aviation, Strategy2050.kz correspondent reports.
Taking into account that civil aviation is one of the priority industries, the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development addresses the issues of flights’ security and accessibility.
“The number of air passengers has risen by 6.3% in 8 months of this year, 5-6 million passengers have been carried, 1.8% up compared with 2018” the Minister said.
The transit passenger flow has seen the increase by 45-fold in the past 7 years, planned to reach 1million transit passengers by the year’s end.
59 airlines are operating in the country. 9 Kazakh airlines carry out flights to EU countries, 8 Kazakh airlines fly over domestic 54 routes. 893 aircraft are recorded in the State Register.
“According to the ICOA flight safety standards, Kazakhstan is placed 2nd among CIS countries with 74%. The airports’ safety rate is 83%”, he said.
This year has seen 3 air crashes involving small aircraft.
He went on to say that only competition could reduce the price of air tickets, with the State controlling and supervising the market. The Ministry itself takes action to that end.
