Tokayev met with US political and expert community in New York
The visit to New York started off with the Kazakh President’s meeting with the US political and expert community facilitated by Atlantic Council, an influential U.S. Analytical Centre, Strategy2050.kz informs with reference to the Akorda press service.
The Kazakh Head of State spoke at length about the current state and prospects of the development of Kazakh-U.S. relations, the country’s main priorities, trade, economic and investment capacities.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that the development of cooperation with the United States is of special importance at the meeting.
“We attach great importance to implementation of the agreements reached during the January 2018 official visit of First Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the United States, laying the foundation for an enhanced strategic partnership among Kazakhstan and the US”, the Kazakh President stated.
The Kazakh President noting that the total amount of U.S. investment pouring into the country exceeds $45 billion went on to say that the U.S. is among Kazakhstan’s largest investors.
He also spoke about successful implementation of the joint projects in energy, outlining that there are opportunities for developing cooperation in agriculture and high technology.
Kazakhstan set out to foster the long-term economic contacts with U.S. businesses.
While the U.S. participants commended the current bilateral cooperation, they noted a huge potential for furthering the mutually beneficial strategic partnership with Kazakhstan.
Established in 1961, Atlantic Council is a leading analytical and scientific centre operating in the United States, investigating transatlantic links, integration processes, security and the environment.
The Kazakh Head of State also held a meeting with High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos in the framework of the 74th UN General Assembly session.

The meeting discussed the prospects for cooperation, in particular the coordination of the efforts in promoting faith-based harmony and global dialogue of civilizations.
The Kazakh President stressed that the Alliance of Civilizations is an authoritative international institution largely contributing to peace, cooperation and intercivilizational dialogue.
“Kazakhstan looks forward to continuing active cooperation with the Alliance of Civilizations as our delegation takes part in its forums on a regular basis”, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The President expressed gratitude to the international organization for the continued support for the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and active participation in the 6th Congress in October 2018, with the expectation of further fruitful contacts.
He also welcomed the launching of the Alliance of Civilizations Action Plan for the protection of the religious sites, put forth by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on 12 September at the UN headquarters.
On his part, Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos congratulated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on his election as President, praising the country’s efforts in developing dialogue between nations, cultures and civilizations.
The Kazakh President also met with Michael Bloomberg, a founder and owner of Bloomberg.

The interlocutors exchanged the views on pertinent issues of the economic agenda worldwide as well as discussed the prospects for cooperation between Kazakhstan and Bloomberg.
The Head of State noted the importance of the Bloomberg global business forum on 25 September this year in New York, where Kazakhstan will be represented by AIFC Governor Kairat Kelimbetov.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also spoke about the trade and economic and investment possibilities of Kazakhstan and called for active cooperation with the Astana International Financial Centre.
Michael Bloomberg thanked the Kazakh President for the opportunity to meet and expressed his readiness for the development of mutually beneficial relations with Kazakh partners.
Concluding the meeting, the Kazakh Head of State invited Michael Bloomberg to visit Kazakhstan.
