Teachers from Kazakhstan to seek world’s best teacher title for first time
11 Kazakh teachers are about to compete for the world’s best teacher title, in which the winner takes home $1 million, for the first time, it was known at the event celebrating the winners of the nation-wide contest The Best Teacher held before A Teachers’ Day at the Kazakhstan central concert hall, Strategy2050.kz informs.
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Education and Science Askhat Aimagambetov, the representatives of the Socially Significant Projects Promotion Fund, the Kazakh Parliament deputies, teachers and veteran teachers were in presence.
During the event, Aliya Nazarbayeva, the Fund’s founder, announced the names of 11 teachers that will represent the country in the qualifying stages of the World’s Teacher – an equivalent of the Novel Prize for teachers, to take place in March 2020 in Dubai.
The Kazakh teachers’ participation in the global award was made possible by the support of the Socially Significant Projects Promotion Fund, which is an official representative of the Varkey GEMS Foundation’s award.
The independent academy of the judges that included the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Parents’ community, NGOs, independent experts in education, philanthropists selected the best candidates for the award under the supervision of a team of international auditors PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Gul Muammer, a math teacher in the Bilim-innovation lyceum for gifted students, was given the national prize Kazakhstan’s Teacher and 4 million tenge, as well as the Ambassador of the Global Award in Kazakhstan title.
