Tbilisi held political consultations btw Kazakh, Georgian Deputy Foreign Ministers

Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Georgia took place on 16 October 2019. The Kazakh delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Marat Syzdykov, the Georgian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili, Strategy2050.kz informs with reference to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

The sides discussed the prospects for further development of political, economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. The September this year meeting of the Presidents of the two countries on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Kazakhstan in May, the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission said to give impetus to the bilateral cooperation.

The participants pointed out the importance of enhancing cooperation in investment, trade and tourism, as well as the effective use of the transit capacity of the two countries.

They exchanged the views on the pressing issues of international agenda and noted the close interaction of the two states within international organizations. The issues of updating the juridical base were considered.

Marat Syzdykov said that Kazakhstan was willing to develop friendly relations with Georgia, constructive political dialogue and foster multifaceted economic cooperation. In that regard, the importance of joint work in transport and logistics, particularly freight traffic between the two countries using the Georgian and Kazakh ports was noted.

Alexander Khvtisiashvili, on his part, outlined that Kazakhstan is one of the important trade and economic partners of Georgia, noting the high political contacts, the significant achievements in mutual trade and tourist flow, and expressed hope to retain and further them.
