Taxi companies’ revenues more than quadrupled within the year in Kazakhstan
Freight makes up almost 62% of total revenues of automobile and urban electric transport that have seen the increase in revenues from 204 to 222 billion tenge in January-October 2019 (8.8% of total revenues of all transport enterprises for the second consecutive year), Energyprom.kz reports.
Freight transportation revenues of automobile and urban electric transport enterprises have neared 61.9% against 59.1% a year earlier, that is, 137.4 billion tenge, representing 110.6% over the corresponding period last year.
Accordingly, the share of passenger traffic in total revenue has reduced to 38.1%, to 84.6 billion tenge - 98.7% over January - October 2018.
The share of road and city electric transport on all routes of total passenger transportation by all modes of transport has risen from 6.4% to 6.8%, while the share of freight transportation has fallen from 18.4% to 17.1%.
Buses have the biggest share in passenger transportation - 74.7 billion tenge, despite a decrease from 92.4% to 88.3%.
By contrast, taxi services have become more significant with their share growing from 1.2% to 3.9%, estimating at 3.3 billion tenge for January-October 2019.
Trolleybuses and trams account for 1.7 and 1.5 billion tenge of all revenue from all passenger traffic, and other modes of transport - 3.4 billion tenge.
Revenues of taxi companies have seen the most increase - by more than 3 times compared with 2018, these of trolleybuses – by 40.8%, freight vehicles by 10.6%, trams by 5.2% and other types of transport, such as cable cars, metro and others by 21% also showed growth. Bus fleet revenues declined 4.8%.
Passenger traffic of road and city electric transport has grown by 6% within the year, reaching 215.4 billion passenger/km (3.1% growth a year earlier). Cargo turnover has increased by 7.3%, to 149.7 billion tonne/km (7.5% growth a year earlier).
