Senate’s delegation took part in autumn session of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

The Kazakhstani Senate delegation, led by Secretary of the Committee on Foreign Relations, Defence and Security, Toleubek Mukashev, participated in the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA), which was held in Marrakesh (Morocco) and was visited by 57 countries, Strategy2050.kz refers to the press service of the Senate.

The main topic of the Assembly session was devoted to a discussion of ways to strengthen security in the Mediterranean region, as well as climate change and environmental migration in the OSCE area.

Domestic experience in promoting tolerance and global inter-religious dialogue was presented by T. Mukashev at the third session, “Combating Intolerance and Discrimination Based on Religion or Beliefs”. Noting the initiative of First President of Kazakhstan - Elbasy N. Nazarbayev to convene the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and the continuity of the planned course by current President K. Tokayev, the senator dwelt in detail on preventive, systematic measures to prevent the causes of intolerance and the fight against radicalism. In his speech, T. Mukashev emphasized the proposal of the Leader of the Nation on the development of a common definition of terrorism, the formation of a single list of terrorist and extremist organizations, international criminal groups.

On the sidelines of the Assembly, senators T. Mukashev and G. Dyussembayev held a number of meetings, including with OSCE PA President Georgy Tsereteli, Deputy Director of the Bureau of the International Organization for Migration in Morocco, Teresa Bottella, US Senator Roger Wicker and deputies of Egypt, Morocco, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkey. An exchange of views took place on the agenda of the Assembly, as well as on biodiversity and ecology.
