Saryarka gas pipeline’s construction remains on track - KazMunayGas
So far, the automatic welding workshops have fully completed their work, a hydraulic pressure test on 1061.3 kilometers of pipes and 515 kilometers of gas pipelines has been successfully performed, Strategy2050.kz reports referring to KazMunayGas.
The preparations for testing the remaining sites said to be under way to slide them altogether. The construction of measuring stations and five gas distribution stations in Zhezkasgan, Karaganda, Temirtau and Nur-Sultan is on schedule.
“All the work on Saryarka gas pipeline’s construction will be completed by the end of 2019 embarking on gasification works in settlements and the capital”, the press release reads.
Upon commissioning the pipeline is due to be rented by Intergas Central Asia for gas transportation. As of yet, the amount and structure of tariffs on gas are not established, that are made up of the expenditures on the pipeline’s exploitation and rental costs.
For its part, the adoption of tariffs is within the competences of the Committee on the regulation of natural monopolies, the protection of competition and consumer rights under the Ministry of National Economy. However, according to the gas and gas supply law the marginal cost of gas whole-sale by KasTransGas on the domestic market is adopted by the Energy Ministry.
The Saryarka gas pipeline is about to promote the country’s energy security, to ensure gas supply to the central and north regions, to improve the environmental situation. It is planned to gradually switch private and small utility boilers, houses and heating plants to gas in the future.
KazMunayGas is a Kazakh national operator in exploring, extracting, processing and transporting hydrocarbons, with the National Welfare Fund holding 90.42% of its shares, and the Kazakh National Bank – 9.58% of the shares.
