Russian scientists discovered the Universe’s boundaries
Scientists of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal Center in Kaliningrad have come to the conclusion that the Universe has borders and does not have dark energy, Strategy2050.kz has learnt from Lenta.ru.
The researchers proposed a theory according to which dark energy is an analogy of the Casimir effect acting on the “walls” of the Universe. The Casimir effect is a mutual attraction of two uncharged bodies placed at a close distance. This occurs under the influence of quantum fluctuations in a vacuum, when virtual particles, for example, photons, spontaneously arise. In this case, the pressure exerted by virtual photons from the inside onto two surfaces is less than from the outside.
According to the physicists, the same thing happens in space, but it leads to repulsion, which accelerates the expansion of the Universe. Thus, there is no dark energy, and expansion occurs due to the presence of boundaries on which the pressure of virtual particles is produced.
The theory of the scientists is based on Randall-Sundrum models, which consider a five-dimensional antidesitter space with negative curvature.
