Prospects of Kazakhstan-European Parliament coop discussed at Kazakh Foreign Ministry
The Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting with the official delegation of the European Parliament that arrived in the country to participate in the 17th meeting of the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee "Kazakhstan - the European Union," the Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to the foreign ministry.
The delegation of the European Parliament included deputies from Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and France, representing the five political factions of the EP.
The meeting focused on the political, trade and economic prospects for cooperation in light of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Kazakhstan and the EU, to enter into full force on 1 March 2020. Special attention was placed to practical cooperation in the framework of the new European Union strategies for Central Asia and the interconnectedness of Europe and Asia.
The Kazakh diplomats called on European politicians to step up bilateral partnership under the EPCA, as well the negotiation process between Kazakhstan and the EU to simplify the visa regime for citizens of Kazakhstan in order to increase business and cultural and humanitarian exchanges with European countries.
Fulvio Martusciello, the head of the EP delegation, commended the agreements on support by the EU institutions for democratic and socio-economic reforms of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reached at the 20 January 2020 17th meeting of the EU-Kazakhstan Cooperation Council in Brussels
