Processing industry’s output increased by 4.9%

Minister of National Economy Ruslan Dalenov reported on indicators of foreign trade turnover for January-May 2020 at the Government session devoted to Kazakhstan’s socioeconomic development, the Strategy2050.kz correspondent reports.
“In January-April, foreign trade turnover amounted to $28.2 billion, export - $18.4 billion, import - $9.8 billion”, Dalenov said.
At the same time, the industry increased by 4.8%. Most regions showed growth. The greatest growth is noted in Atyrau and Kostanai regions. Decrease was recorded in 4 regions: Kyzylorda, Aktobe, Mangistau and in the city of Shymkent.
“Processing output is increasing. Growth increased by 4.9%. Pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, production of building materials and light industry demonstrate high growth rates”, the Minister said.
According to him, 15 regions showed an increase in investment in fixed assets.
“Turkestan region has increased investments almost 2 times. Akmola region - one and a half times. Decrease occurred in five regions: Aktobe, Mangistau, Zhambyl, East Kazakhstan region and the city of Shymkent. In general, investments in fixed assets amounted to + 0.1%”, the Minister concluded.
