President of Kazakhstan visited modular infectious diseases hospital in Nur-Sultan
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited a modular infectious diseases hospital built in Nur-Sultan within two weeks under the conditions of a state of emergency amid the coronavirus pandemic, Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.
The total area of the medical establishment amounts to 7 thousand square meters. 5.5 billion tenge was allocated from the republican budget for its construction. The hospital was built by a group of companies of BI Group holding. It is designed for 200 beds and equipped with modern technologies to ensure the safety of medical staff and patients.

During the visit, the President heard information from Minister of Healthcare, Yelzhan Birtanov, on the current epidemiological situation and ways to improve anti-infection medical care.

The Head of State toured the medical units and wards, equipped with all necessary equipment for treating patients. Board chairman of the BI Group construction holding, Aidyn Rakhimbayev, told the President about the progress of construction work and the features of the hospital.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that this clinic is the first medical institution of this type in the country and expressed appreciation to the builders for its construction.

The President thanked the medical workers for their dedication.
“You are on the frontline to fight the pandemic. We are very grateful to you. You work around the clock. Therefore, I call you to be alert and, above all, to take care of yourself”, the Head of State said.
In turn, the doctors thanked the state and the President for the support. They also raised the question of wage increase for infectious disease doctors.

“Now we are consolidating all budget funds. You should understand that the markets traditional for Kazakhstan have fallen off. We do not receive into the budget the serious amounts we were counting on. But even in these difficult financial conditions, we will not disregard your request”, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev answered.
