President demanded to upgrade punishment for drunk driving
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to amend the legislation for cattle theft, as well.
According to President’s Twitter account, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered to upgrade a punishment for driving vehicles while intoxicated.
“I’ve instructed to amend the legislation: to tighten the punishment for driving vehicles after taking all types of alcohol, as well as for cattle theft”, the President wrote.
At the moment, in accordance with Article 608 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offences “Operation of a transport vehicle by the driver being in a state of alcohol, narcotic and (or) substance abuse intoxication, and equally transfer of operation of the transport vehicle to the person being in a state of alcohol, narcotic and (or) substance abuse intoxication” entails the deprivation of the right of operation of transport vehicle for the term of three years.
