Over 45K tons of ferrosilicon produced in Kazakhstan
Karaganda’s ferroalloy plant “YDD Corporation” has produced more than 45 thousand tons of ferrosilicon from the launch date. As of today, the plant’s products are successfully sold on the markets of Kazakhstan, Europe, Southeast Asia, North and South America, thereby satisfying local and global demand for ferrosilicon due to high-quality production. This is important because in recent years the export of ferroalloys has decreased by 14%, Strategy2050.kz reports.
The main product of the enterprise is the high-quality ferrosilicon, which is used in the production and alloying of steel, cast iron alloys, and in the improvement of the mechanical and corrosion resistance of metals.
The official opening ceremony of the new automated ferroalloy plant “YDD Corporation” was held in July 2019 in Karaganda region. More than 500 people were involved in the implementation of the project. Currently there are 550 qualified specialists working at permanent jobs.

The singularity of the project is that the plant uses technologies of three active ore-thermal furnaces with a rotary bath with a capacity of 63 MVA each. They have been tested in industrial conditions and meet the best international standards through the application of the latest achievements of world production of ferrosilicon, equipped with elements of Industry 4.0.
At the same time, great attention is paid to the environmental component of the project. In particular, the gas purification system installed at the plant has practically no analogues in the world and provides a high degree of air purification, namely up to 99.8%.

After launching the third furnace in the third quarter of this year, YDD Corporation LLP plans to increase ferrosilicon production to 180-200 thousand tons per year.
An important factor is that the share of Kazakhstani content in the production of finished products is about 94%. All the necessary raw material base - coal, quartzite, scale is supplied by domestic enterprises.
