Outflow of graduates to foreign universities to reduce twofold in E Kazakhstan

27 February, 2020 10:58

To do this, starting in 2017, East Kazakhstan region allocates educational grants from the local budget in addition to the republican educational grants, head of the Education Department Sairangul Zhumadilova said during a press conference in the Regional Communication Service, Strategy2050.kz reports.

She noted that one of the areas of Department’s activity is to reduce the outflow of graduates to foreign universities. The region implements the “Bіlіktі Maman” project aimed at improving the competitiveness of regional universities.

“200 educational grants were allocated in 2017, in 2018 - 446, in 2019 - 400. Thus, 1,046 students are studying at the universities at the expense of the local budget”, the speaker informed.

As a result of the measures taken, the outflow of graduates to foreign universities was significantly reduced. 1800 applicants left East Kazakhstan in 2016, 535 left in 2019. This year it is planned to continue work to reduce the outflow of graduates and reduce it by 2 times.
