Aruzhan Sakhariyanova, an eco-volunteer, fully supports President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s idea of environmental education as a school subject, voiced today at the Government’s extended session.

“I have recently begun to notice the strong interest among children and teenagers in environmentally friendly lifestyle and creation of eco-projects”, she said.
But unfortunately, according to her, not many people know the basics of such information as waste management, types of plastic, air pollution, etc.
“When I began to be interested in this sphere, it was difficult for me to find the necessary and reliable resources of information. It seems to me that such school subject will be very useful and inspire children to introduce eco-habits into their lives, educate their peers and be sure to share information with adults. One of the reasons for the formation of large amounts of waste at landfills is people’s low interest”, she stated.
Aruzhan Sakhariyanova believes that the introduction of environmental education as a school subject will be useful and interesting.
“It is important that the program of the ecology subject will be useful and interesting, so that children are involved in the process of nature conservation”, the eco-volunteer concluded.
