Officers of National Security Committee prevented terrorist act in Almaty
The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan informed about a citizen who was preparing a terrorist act in the southern capital, Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to the press service of the National Security Committee.
A citizen of Kazakhstan, A. Bitimbayev, has convicted and sentenced to 10 years on the facts of preparing for the act of terrorism, propaganda of terrorism, inciting religious hatred and illegal possession of firearms.
“He came to the attention of the NSC as an adherent of destructive religious ideology and a supporter of the ISIS international terrorist organization banned in Kazakhstan”, the message reads.
During the inspection, information was received about the preparation of terrorist attacks using explosives in places of mass population under the influence of ISIS campaign in the Internet.
After the attack, he intended to move to Syria to join the ranks of foreign militants and continue terrorist activities.
In order to disrupt Bitimbayev’s plans in April of this year, he was detained in Almaty by the National Security Committee with the involvement of the internal affairs bodies.
During the search, firearms and traumatic weapons, components for making an improvised explosive device, schemes of three shopping and entertainment centers, a mask and gloves were seized from him.

The guilt of Bitimbayev is fully proved by testimony, material and other evidence.
