Nursultan Nazarbayev Airport changed its code

According to the special notification of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) dated April 6, 2020, the final official decision was made to change the current three-letter code of the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport from TSE to NQZ, Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to the Civil Aviation Committee.

It should be noted that the Ministry has done a lot of work with IATA management and experts to change IATA's approaches to regulating and changing three-letter airport codes around the world.

“Thanks to the work carried out by Kazakhstan, all world countries got the unique opportunity to make changes to the three-letter codes of their airports, the change of which was previously difficult. At the same time, our country worked out the issue of support by representatives of civil aviation of their own initiative to amend the IATA resolution on regulating the issues of assignment and change of three-letter airport codes around the world”, the message reads.

This change will be officially applied from June 8, 2020, and in all airline reservation systems, including tickets, baggage tags, information boards, the new airport code NQZ will be used.
