23 December, 2019 14:59

Under the chairmanship of Mazhilis Speaker, Nurlan Nigmatulin, the Mazhilis Bureau has held a meeting to discuss a draft agenda for the upcoming plenary meeting of the deputies.

The Chamber is going to discuss a package of ratification bills.

This is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Convention on Countering Extremism.

This also includes the Protocol on the Prohibition of the Use in War Asphyxiating, Poisonous or Other Gases and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare (Geneva Protocol).

There are currently 140 States Parties to this Protocol. The call for the adoption of the Geneva Protocol is contained in the relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly. The accession of Kazakhstan to the Geneva Protocol will show our country's commitment to such principles and goals as the immorality of chemical and biological warfare, as well as directly prohibit the use of chemical, biological and toxic weapons.

The draft plenary agenda also includes issues on continuing work on a package of ratification bills. Among these are the Protocol to the Agreement between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Ismaili Imamat on the establishment of the University of Central Asia, as well as the Agreement of Kazakhstan with Russia on the provision and conditions for the use of a land plot in our country as an area for the fall of the separated parts of launch vehicles during launches from Baikonur Cosmodrome.
