Nurlan Nigmatulin attended bilateral meetings on margins of IPA CIS in St. Petersburg

The Chairman of the Mazhilis of Parliament, Nurlan Nigmatulin, has held bilateral meetings as part of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, taking place in St. Petersburg, the Mazhilis’ press service informs.

At a meeting with Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, the Kazakh Mazhilis Chairman stressed the importance of actively using the potential of inter-parliamentary dialogue to further deepen Kazakh-Uzbek interaction.

According to Nurlan Nigmatulin, the dynamics and content of the high-level meetings demonstrate an effective model of bilateral partnership. He went to say that a new milestone in the history of Kazakh-Uzbek relations, begun by First President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, is fruitfully developing in the current course of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The interlocutors agreed to continue the practice of regular meetings of deputies of relevant committees, cooperation groups on a systematic basis to study legislative experience, as well as joint work to expand the legal framework for partnership between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The parliamentarians also pointed out the intensification of interaction between the regions of the two countries, especially between the border regions, which, according to Nurlan Nigmatulin, will allow fulfilling the task set by the Heads of State to increase trade by the end of 2020 to 5 billion US dollars.

The Mazhilis Speaker has also held a meeting with Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova Zinaida Greceanii, where an interest in strengthening relations with Kazakhstan was expressed.

The interlocutors singled out promising areas for further cooperation between the two countries, in particular the possibility of using the trans-Caspian route.
