Nur-Sultan hosts International Anti-Corruption Conference

The conference is held under the theme “Corruption - a social evil that undermines the development of any society,” Strategy2050.kz informs with reference to the Foundation of Elbasy’s press service.

The fight against corruption offenses is one of the most important priorities of the state policy of Kazakhstan, which is possible not only with the participation of state bodies, but also with NGOs and the public. Along with this, it is important to constantly improve anti-corruption measures.

The 5th International Anti-Corruption Conference is being held today in Nur Sultan. Over 20 speakers from 10 countries, experts have gathered to discuss cutting-edge anti-corruption tools. Among the speakers are State Secretary of Kazakhstan Krymbek Kusherbayev, chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alik Shpekbayev, deputy executive director of the First Presidential Foundation of Kazakhstan - Elbasy Igor Rogov, head of the Anti-Corruption Agency of France Charles Duchesne, ex-president of the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Moldova Anatoly Donchu, deputy director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine Anatoly Novak and others.

The importance of holding such large-scale conferences was emphasized by Igor Rogov.

“Kazakhstan is the country that, under the leadership of First President Nursultan Nazarbayev, was one of the first in the CIS to implement anti-corruption programs. The legislation is being improved in the republic, the measure of responsibility for corruption violations is being tightened, information and preventive activities are being strengthened. However, new approaches and improved anti-corruption mechanisms are required. Therefore, such large dialogue platforms as the ongoing International Conference are very useful. After all, the exchange of best practices and experience, discussion of problematic issues helps to increase the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures,” he said.

The experts, representatives of the academic community shared their experience and knowledge regarding the implementation of internationally recognized preventive anti-corruption tools. These tools are used in the areas of responsibility for illicit enrichment, whistleblower protection, anti-corruption expertise and education.

During the conference, the agreements have been reached on further cooperation with foreign anti-corruption agencies and NGOs.
