Nigmatulin: status of women and youth in political system is strengthened by law
Mazhilis Chairman Nurlan Nigmatulin is of opinion that the new norms of the laws “On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan” and “On Political Parties” will not only stimulate the active entry of women and youth into politics, but will also give a new impetus to the modernization of the country's political system, Strategy2050.kz reports.
At the plenary sitting, the Mazhilis deputies approved legislative amendments to the Constitutional Law “On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan” and the Law “On Political Parties”.
The bills were developed in accordance with the instructions of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, given at the second meeting of the National Council of Public Trust.
Having stressed that the approved amendments are legislative implementation of the political initiatives of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Speaker of the Mazhilis focused on the importance of the main innovations of the bills: the mandatory 30% quota for women and youth in the party’s lists, as well as reducing the barrier to registering political parties from 40 to 20 thousand people.
“Undoubtedly, these norms will not only stimulate the active entry of women and youth into politics, but will also give a new impetus to the modernization of the entire existing political system of the country”, Nurlan Nigmatulin is sure.
