New cooperation program between Kazakhstan and UN for 2021-2025 discussed in Nur-Sultan

Nur-Sultan hosted a meeting on strategic planning for sustainable development. The purpose of the event, which was attended by representatives of government bodies, the UN country team, NGOs, civil society and academia, is to identify the main contours and key priorities of the new Cooperation Program between Kazakhstan and the UN in the field of sustainable development for 2021-2025, Strategy2050.kz learns from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

In a welcoming speech, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, voiced the main development priorities of Kazakhstan, outlined by Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In particular, the ongoing work to improve the economic well-being and social status of citizens of the country was noted. The participants of the event were acquainted with the work carried out by the Government on the implementation of the UN Agenda 2030 and the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals in the country, 80% of which are integrated into strategic government documents and programs.

UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan, Norimasa Shimomura, praised the level of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN, the achievements of our State in the field of sustainable development, and expressed confidence that the new strategic document would be a good basis for further deepening mutual partnership.
