New container service along Xi'an-Prague route launched via Kazakhstan

By way of the new alternative route China-Europe-China, a container train on the Xi'an-Istanbul-Prague route first traveled in transit trough Kazakhstan’s border station Altynkol, the press service of KTZ Express reports.

The new service is the implementation of the agreements reached between NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” JSC and the People's Government of Shanxi Province as part of the “One Belt - One Road” initiative.

A 8500 kilometers distance, the train, consisting of 42 forty-foot containers with electronics, will overcome in 20 days, combining the territories of ten countries along the route. The train followed the territory of Kazakhstan for 72 hours.

Deputy Chairman of the Board of “NC “KTZ” JSC for Logistics P. Sokolov expressed gratitude to all parties who participated in the creation of this service, stressing that the launch of the new container train is an example of strategic cooperation between the railway administrations of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, as well as the Chinese side, organized a train on this route.

“We will continue to work actively with our partners, improve the quality of the service provided and expand the transportation routes. This is a strategic direction of KTZ’s activities and is aimed at using the transit potential of Kazakhstan”, he noted.

Over the 9 months of this year, the growth of transportation of “NC “KTZ” JSC along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) amounted to 67%. An important factor in the growth of transportation along TITR was the launch of a regular container feeder line with “NMSK “Kazmotransflot” LLP with a weekly departure from Aktau to Baku and back.

The service provided the exporters of Kazakhstan with the opportunity to use this route to deliver their products to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, as well as to the ports of the Black and Mediterranean Seas.
