Minister of Labor explains how salaries are rising in Kazakhstan

At the Collegium of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population on the results in 2019 and the main tasks for 2020, Minister Birzhan Nurymbetov informed how wages are raised in Kazakhstan, Strategy2050.kz informs referring to the Ministry’s press service.

In his speech, the Minister emphasized that salary’s increase is a priority for the Government.

“Since the beginning of 2019, the minimum wage has been increased 1.5 times - from 28 to 42.5 thousand tenge. This directly affected about 1.3 million people, including 275 thousand civil servants. Since June, the salary of certain employees of the public sector has been increased to 30%. More than 1 million civil servants received higher salaries. The average salary of an employee amounted to 114.5 thousand tenge”, Birzhan Nurymbetov informed.

He also noted that since 2020, in accordance with the President’s instructions, the salary of cultural workers and archives, teachers and social workers has been increased again, by an average of 30%.

“In addition, in 2019, 205.6 thousand employers committed to increase the remuneration of more than 1.2 million low-paid workers, an average of 32.7%. Monitoring of salary increases is ongoing”, Birzhan Nurymbetov.
