Minister of Internal Affairs met with Secretary General of Interpol
Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerlan Turgumbayev met with Secretary General of the International Criminal Police Organization – Interpol Jürgen Stock, the press service of the Ministry informs.
They discussed issues of further development of bilateral relations between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan and Interpol, as well as successful cooperation in countering new challenges from international terrorism, extremism and transnational crime.
Kazakhstan’s entry into Interpol and the creation of the National Central Bureau in the Ministry of Internal Affairs structure made it possible to interact with foreign colleagues from almost any state party to this Organization, including those countries with which there are no agreements on legal assistance in criminal matters.
“Thanks to the active cooperation with foreign colleagues, we were able to achieve significant success, including in the search for criminals. So, this year alone, 66 criminals and 2 missing people were found outside the territory of Kazakhstan”, Yerlan Turgumbayev noted.
Along with this, the Minister and the Secretary General discussed multilateral cooperation of the Kazakh establishment with other interregional organizations, such as the SCO, CSTO, Organized Crime Coordination Bureau (BKBOP), OSCE and others.
In conclusion, Jürgen Stock expressed his gratitude to Mr Turgumbayev for the reception and high-level meeting, and also expressed hope for a further increase in bilateral cooperation.
