Mazhilis Chairman met with participants of 4th Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian countries’ Parliaments

Speaker of the Mazhilis of the Kazakh Parliament, Nurlan Nigmatulin, held bilateral meetings with the participants of the 4th Meeting of Speakers of Parliaments of Europe and Asia dubbed “Greater Eurasia: Dialogue. Trust. Partnership”, to take place on September 22, 2019, in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan. It is expected to bring together the heads of the highest legislative bodies of around 60 countries, Strategy2050.kz informs with reference to the Mazhilis press service.

Mazhilis Chairman Nurlan Nigmatulin stressed the importance of discussing the issues relevant to the entire Eurasian space during the 4th Meeting of Speakers of Parliaments of Europe and Asia while meeting with his colleagues from Jordan and Oman.

In his turn, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Jordan, Atef Tarawneh, noted the high level of inter-State relations as well as the potential for the development of cooperation among Kazakh and Jordanian parliamentarians.

During the meeting with Chairman of the Consultative Assembly of Oman Khalid Al Mawali, the Mazhilis Speaker emphasized the historical nature of the Omani colleague’s visit, noting that this visit will go down in the history of the two countries’ bilateral relations as the first high-level visit.

Khalid Al Mawali, on his part, shared his impressions of Kazakhstan, expressing his excitement of the development pace of the country and the capital Nur-Sultan, viewing all this as the result of the activity of First Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

According to Khalid Al Mawali, Kazakhstan is a credible country in the world and regularly shows international initiatives.  

The crucial factor in the country’s economic development, according to the Speaker of the Omani Parliament, is stability in Kazakhstan’s multinational society.

The interlocutors stressed the further development of inter-parliamentary relations.

While meeting with the Chairman of the Consultative Assembly of Qatar, Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Nurlan Nigmatulin noted that Qatar is an important partner of Kazakhstan.

According to the Mazhilis Speaker, such a large-scale meeting of the parliamentarians will be an effective mechanism for further strengthening and expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation.

In his turn, Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud pointed out the significance of the 4th Meeting of the Speakers of Eurasian countries’ Parliaments and expressed the hope for future development of bilateral inter-parliamentary relations.

In a meeting with Chairman of the Moldavian Parliament Zinaida Greceanîi the Mazhilis Speaker expressed an interest of Kazakh parliamentarians to develop cooperation with Moldavian colleagues.

According Nurlan Nigmatulin, active interaction among the parliamentary cooperation groups, subject committees as well as joint work within the inter-parliamentary organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe will deepen the relations between the two countries.

In her turn, Zinaida Greceanîi thanked for inviting to take part in the 4th Meeting of Speakers and confirmed the readiness of Moldova to develop inter-parliamentary dialogue.

The interlocutors also called for expanding the economic, cultural and humanitarian links between the two countries, underlining that Kazakh and Moldavian peoples are connected with strong friendly relations.

Mazhilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin and Speaker of Wolesi Jirga Mir Rahman Rahmani went over the issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Nurlan Nigmatulin congratulated the Afghan colleague on his election to the post of Speaker of the Chamber and conveyed warm words of welcome to the Afghan people on the 100th anniversary of independence of Afghanistan, which is marked this year, while meeting with Mir Rahman Rahmani.

The interlocutors discussed the Afghan settlement, Kazakhstan’s input into the process, and the reforms in the legal sector.

Mir Rahman Rahmani thanked for the help Kazakhstan has been providing to Afghan people with a focus on the educational projects initiated by First Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Speaking of the upcoming 4th Meeting of the Speakers of Parliaments of Eurasian countries, Mazhilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin expressed confidence that the event would encourage multilateral dialogues among the Parliaments of European and Asian countries.

While thanking for invitation, Speaker of Wolesi Jirga Mir Rahman Rahmani noted the relevance of the discussion platform and confirmed the willingness of strengthening the Kazakh-Afghan inter-parliamentary ties.

Mazhilis Speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin held talks with his Chinese colleague Li Zhanshu, the current Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, who is in Kazakhstan on his first official visit.

Underlining the strategic nature of the Kazakh-Chinese ties, the Mazhilis Speaker accentuated the strong political dialogues, firm economic links once established by First Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and the Chinese leadership.

According to Nurlan Nigmatulin, the interaction among the two countries are gaining momentum thanks to the agreements reached by Kazakh President Kassym-Komart Tokayev and Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping during the Kazakh Head of State’s first state visit to China.

The realization of the large-scale projects such as Khorgos, the port Aktau, the new railway corridor “Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran”, the transit corridor “West Europe – West China” is of strategic importance for the entire Eurasian continent.

In his turn, Li highly praised the level of Kazakh-Chinese cooperation, emphasizing Kazakhstan’s role in the diplomatic relations of China with the neighboring countries.

According to him, China strongly supports Kazakhstan’s aspiration to follow its own way of development, support the country’s prosperity and ensure Kazakhstan’s prominent role on the international arena.

He also outlined the importance of the statement of the Heads of State of Kazakhstan and China on eternal, comprehensive and strategic partnership.

According to the Mazhilis Chairman, during a period when the two countries are at their new stage of inter-State relations today, it is necessary to further expand inter-parliamentary interaction proved by the fact that a parliamentary delegation of the National People's Congress is the first official delegation of China to arrive in the country following the first state visit of the Kazakh President to China.

The interlocutors exchanged their experiences in law-making, including a legal framework for reforms and innovational development.

Nurlan Nigmatulin expressed confidence that Li’s visit to the country and his participation in the upcoming 4th Meeting of Speakers of Parliaments of the Eurasian countries themed “Greater Eurasia: Dialogue. Trust. Partnership” will trigger the comprehensive strengthening of Kazakh-Chinese relations.  

He also congratulated his Chinese colleague on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China and wished well-being and prosperity to the Chinese people.
