Major Kazakh companies take part in 2nd China International Import Expo 2019
Alikhan Smailov, first deputy premier of Kazakhstan, led an official delegation to the 2nd China International Import Expo 2019 taking place in the city of Shanghai, Strategy2050.kz informs with reference to the press service of KazakhInvest.
The International Exhibition is held by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the Municipal People’s Government of Shanghai and the China International Import Expo Bureau.
Kazakhstan’s economic and investment potential is represented by KazakhInvest, Samruk Kazyna National Welfare Fund, Baiterek National Managing Holding, the AIFC, Astana Expo – 2017, KazakhExport, Qaztrade Center for Trade Policy Development, KazakhTourism and Khorgos International Center of Boundary Cooperation, as well as around 30 companies in food and agriculture sectors in the Kazakhstan national pavilion with an area of 180 square meters.
The exhibition also features meetings with representatives of international business with the promising investment projects in agriculture, tourism, information technology, finance, logistics, infrastructure development, and commerce being discussed.
“China is among the leaders by import. Kazakh manufacturers can benefit from the strategic location and common boundary. As a matter of fact, international business representatives have expressed their interest in investment projects and capacities of Kazakhstan, offering considerable scope for future cooperation,” Galym Uzbekov, deputy chairman of the Board of KazakhInvest, said.
The Exhibition has seen Kazakh and Chinese commercial organizations sign some export contracts as follows:
- An agreement to deliver sunflower oil and flour for Younghui and Xinjiang San Bao;
- A memorandum of intent to purchase 500 thousand tons of barley for CITIC.
China International Import Expo 2019 informs 78 exponents are involved with the number of potential buyers reaching 150 thousand people from over 100 countries during the Exhibition from 5 to 10 November.
The audience of the Exhibition’s demonstration sites includes representatives of national companies, holdings, venture organizations, travel agencies, airlines, transport companies, hotels, resorts, developers of IT solutions, and others.
The 2nd China International Import Expo 2019’s opening ceremony saw the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness, as well as others.
The 1st China International Import Expo in Shanghai saw over 3 thousand companies from more than 130 countries, 200 of which are listed among top 500 companies worldwide.
The event was attended by 18 Heads of State and Government, as well as around 160 thousand buyers.
