KZT 25 bln of private investment to be directed to development of road sector’s intelligent systems
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin witnessed the signing of an investment agreement between NC KazAvtoZhol JSC and the Consortium of companies Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Co., LTD. and Computer Vision Technologies LLP, primeminister.kz reports.
The agreement provides the development of intelligent systems in the road sector and the increase in the length of toll roads of national importance in accordance with the Nurly Zhol State Infrastructure Development Program.
According to the agreement, the Consortium will implement a system of charging for 11 thousand km of roads of national importance in Kazakhstan. The project will be implemented in 2 stages: in 2020 - 5.7 thousand km (“Western Europe - Western China” corridor, etc.), in 2021-2024 - 5.3 thousand km (Karaganda - Balkhash - Almaty, Taldykorgan - Kalbatau - Ust-Kamenogorsk, etc.).
The volume of Consortium’s investments will exceed 25 billion tenge with a return period of 11 years. Based on the results of the project implementation and return on investment, the Infrastructure Charging System will become the property of the state represented by NC KazAvtoZhol JSC.
The project will create over 500 new jobs, increase the competence of domestic companies in the field of intelligent transport systems, ensure funding for the quality maintenance and preservation of roads, as well as reduce accident rates by fully covering the vehicle speed control system.
Rates of tolls on roads of the first technical category will be the same as on other toll roads operated in Kazakhstan. On roads of the 2nd and 3rd technical categories, the passage for cars will be free.
The charging system will be open - without barriers. The software is integrated into the existing “Payment system of NC KazAvtoZhol JSC, which operates in the sections “Nur-Sultan-Schuchinsk”, “Nur-Sultan-Temirtau”, “Almaty-Kapshagay” and “Almaty-Khorgos” with a total length of 682 km.
