KTZh reports favourable tariff conditions for exporters
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy is working to establish favourable tariff conditions for the transportation of exporting Kazakh products by rail to the neighboring countries, the company’s press service informs.
Together with the railway administration of Uzbekistan, discounts on the transportation of grain cargo, flour and grinding products from Kazakhstan in the direction of Afghanistan to the Galaba station in the amount of 80%, and in the direction of Turkmenistan and Iran to the Khojadavlet station in the amount of 50% are in place, as well as a 60% discount on the transportation of all goods except oil products across the territory of Turkmenistan.
In an effort to realize the export potential of Kazakhstan, the creation of the conditions for containerization and increased volumes, favourable tariff conditions have been established for Kazakh exporters to transport grain, leguminous crops, products of the milling industry, nuts, seeds, hay in large containers.
At the same time, the tariffs for domestic and export communications, even taking into account the discounts on transit transportation, are lower in comparison with the transit tariffs and do not infringe on domestic shippers in terms of transportation costs.
The company explains it by the fact that for many years the country has maintained a low level of railway tariffs for the transportation of goods in domestic and export communications in comparison with other countries.
For example, for outbound rail communication the cost of the transportation of ferrous metals is about 8 thousand tenge per ton for 1000 km of Russia’s territory, 4 thousand tenge per ton for 1000 km of the territory of Kazakhstan, as for domestic communication - 7 thousand tenge per ton for 1000 km of Russia, and 4 thousand tenge per ton for 1000 km of Kazakhstan.
