Korea-Kazakhstan IT Center to open in Astana Hub
On November 21, 2019 in Seoul, South Korea, Zerde Holding JSC and the National Information Society Agency of the Republic of Korea (NIA) signed a memorandum of cooperation for the establishment and operation of a Cooperation Center in the sphere of information technology, Strategy2050.kz reports citing the press service of Zerde Holding JSC.
The meeting was held at the NIA office, where Yerlan Durmagambetov, CEO of Zerde Holding JSC and NIA President Yong-sik Moon signed an agreement and discussed the concept of the Center.
According to the memorandum, the Korea-Kazakhstan International ICT Cooperation Center will operate on the basis of the Astana Hub International Technology Park of IT startups.
“The main objective of the Center is to promote the creation of an information society in South Korea and Kazakhstan through the exchange of experience in the ICT sphere, thereby contributing to the economic and social development of both countries”, the message reads.
The Center will become a platform for the exchange of experience and knowledge of IT specialists of the two countries, the development of joint projects, as well as research on new technologies, including artificial intelligence, big data, open data, the Internet of things, smart city, 5G and others. In addition, the creation of the Center will expand the interaction between government agencies, IT companies, scientific community of Kazakhstan and South Korea by activating ICT policies, technology exchange and mutual investment.

It should be noted that in August this year, the Kazakh-Korean seminar on cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies was held in the capital of Kazakhstan with the participation of the Vice Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry and the Vice President of the National Information Society Agency. During the event, the parties discussed priority areas of cooperation, including the creation of the future IT Center.
