Kazakhstan, Vietnam to develop inter-parliamentary cooperation
Speaker of the Mazhilis Nurlan Nigmatulin held talks with Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan during his official visit to Vietnam, Strategy2050.kz refers to the press service of the Mazhilis.
The interlocutors discussed the promising areas of inter-parliamentary cooperation and confirmed their intention to intensify it. The practice of regular meetings at the level of relevant committees, cooperation groups and parliamentary factions facilitate the exchange of legislative experience.
“Vietnam is an important partner of our country in Southeast Asia. The leadership of Kazakhstan has paid and continues to pay special attention to comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam”, Nurlan Nigmatulin emphasized.
In turn, the President of the National Assembly highlighted the special role of First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, in the establishment and development of Kazakh-Vietnamese relations.
According to the Speaker of the Mazhilis, the signing of the EAEU-Vietnam Agreement on Free Trade Zone gave a significant impetus to strengthening the partnership. Vietnam is the first country with which such an agreement has been signed. Among the promising areas of cooperation are agriculture, light industry, transport, logistics, tourism.
Nurlan Nigmatulin noted the intensification of inter-party dialogue.
Speaking about inter-parliamentary relations, the President of the National Assembly called the visit of Kazakhstani parliamentarians an important milestone in the history of cooperation between the two countries.
“I had a vivid impression of my visit to Kazakhstan in 2017, the level of development of your country, the unforgettable architecture of the capital of Kazakhstan”, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan added.
The Chairwoman of the Parliament of Vietnam also noted the successful holding of the 4th Meeting of Speakers of Parliaments of Eurasian Countries, held in Nur Sultan, while emphasizing the interest of participating countries in the development of cooperation, as well as the prestige of Kazakhstan in the world.
The sides also discussed issues of interaction between countries within the UN, CICA, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Special attention at the meeting was paid to issues of a visa-free regime for citizens of both countries, the resumption of direct air links between Kazakhstan and Vietnam.
At the end of the meeting, Nurlan Nigmatulin conveyed congratulations to the Vietnamese people on the upcoming anniversary dates next year - the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 75th anniversary of Independence of the country.
