Kazakhstan, South Korea to interact in technical standardization
The 12th Forum, that is taking place in the Kazakh capital for the first time at the Foreign Ministers level, is expected to touch upon the promising areas as technical standardization cooperation, water management, joint projects in IT, green energy, Strategy2050.kz correspondent reports.
The Forum has gathered Central Asian and South Korean officials, including foreign ministers.
During the event, Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi referred to the Forum as an effective mechanism for fostering the interaction between Central Asia and South Korea.
According to him, the common centuries-old history and cultural proximity have been and remain the fundamentals for the drawing together of the States.
“Central Asia has one of the world’s dynamic economies, is strategically situated and holds the great human and economic capacity, natural and industrial resources. First President – National Leader Nursultan Nazarbayev and current President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attach special attention to strengthen fraternal relations among the region’s States. We appreciate the level of trust and partnership involving the political will of our Leaders”, the Kazakh foreign minister said.
The March 2018 consultative meeting of Central Asia’s Heads of States in Nur-Sultan ushered in the new phase of the regional relations, where the core priorities of five-party cooperation and further plans were outlined.
The Kazakh foreign minister pointed out Kazakhstan’s foreign policy aims at promoting equal and trusted dialogue, as well as joining forces in strengthening trade and economic relations in Central Asia.
In his speech, the foreign minister outlined the positive changes on the Korea peninsula.
“Kazakhstan stands for peace process on the Korean peninsula and Seoul’s efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region and develop the inter-Korean relations. The 2018 and 2019 summits between the USA and North Korea echoed both sides’ intent to end open confrontations and mutual accusations. Kazakhstan further believes that settling North Korea’s nuclear issues needs peaceful dialogue and all willing sides’ interests in view”, he said.
In Minister’s words, the top priority for Kazakhstan is to reach a world free of nuclear weapons.
“It is Kazakhstan’s top priority to reach a nuclear-weapons free world. Having such weapons does not demonstrate superiority nor promotes global security or cooperation”, the Kazakh foreign minister said, emphasizing the unparalleled zone free of nuclear weapons in Central Asia that could be modeled after on the Korean peninsula.
According to the minister, technical standardization cooperation plays a pivotal role in the cooperation among Central Asia and South Korea.
“Korea’s Samsung, LG, Hyundai, KIA and so on operate within Kazakhstan. It is essential to uphold common regulations in technical standardization as we all are moving into the era of the 4th revolution”, he said.
It should be noted that the CASK forum is held for the 12th time. Kazakhstan demonstrates a special attitude towards the forum. It was Kazakhstan that initiated an increase in forum’s participation to the level of foreign ministers.
