Kazakhstan seen over 20 thousand foreign workforce permits in 2019
As of October 1, 2019, there have been 20 thousand 938 permits to attract foreign workforce in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of People informs.
Of those, 819 are first category permits (managers and their deputies), 4 690 - second category permits (heads of structural units). Most of the permits are of third (specialists) and fourth (skilled workers) categories – 9 803 and 1 738, respectively. 2 216 seasonal workers, and 1 672 people under corporate transfer have been attracted.
Presently, there are 2 396 employers attracting foreign workforce in Kazakhstan, employing 531.1 thousand Kazakh citizens, 96% of their total employees.
Major source countries of foreign workforce include China - 4 433 people, Uzbekistan - 2 320, India - 1 837, Turkey - 1 828, Great Britain - 1449.
The Kazakh government annually sets quotas for foreign specialists in a bid to safeguard the domestic labour market.
As of 2019, the quotas are set at 0.54% of the economically active population of the country (about 48.7 thousand people).
