Kazakhstan’s security system to be used in Tajikistan

Kazakhstan’s security equipment manufactured by the Petropavlovsk Heavy Engineering Plant was solemnly handed over to the Ministry of Justice of Tajikistan in Dushanbe, Strategy2050.kz has learnt from the MFA’s press service.

The ceremony was attended by Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Rapil Zhoshybaev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Tajikistan Askar Tazhibayev, Deputy Minister of Justice of Tajikistan Mansurjon Umarov, Regional Representative for Central Asia of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Ashita Mittal, as well as representatives of PHEP and UN country offices.

The event participants saw the signing of an act on the acceptance and transfer of 2 sets of security equipment intended for correctional institutions of Tajikistan. This project became possible due to the implementation by Kazakhstan of the project of the national system of official development assistance (ODA).

Speaking to the ceremony participants, Ambassador-at-Large Zhoshybaev spoke about the ongoing work to create a national ODA system, plans to establish a national operator in this area - KazAID agency. The Kazakhstani diplomat also informed about the implementation of a number of projects within the framework of ODA in the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan, and stressed the willingness of the Kazakh side to further joint work in this area.

In turn, Deputy Minister of Justice Umarov thanked the Kazakh side for help and expressed confidence that the activities of Kazakhstan in this important direction will help to strengthen stability and security, both in Tajikistan and in the region as a whole.

Kazakhstan has significant experience in ODA. At different times, our country provided humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan in the form of educational grants and the construction of educational institutions.

The project is important in the context of joint efforts to ensure security in the Central Asian region and the development of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
