During his visit to Azerbaijan Kazakh Minister of Internal Affairs Yerlan Turgumbayev signed two intergovernmental international treaties, the press service of the Ministry reports.

The first is a cooperation agreement in the field of migration. It defines the organization and forms of a joint fight against illegal migration and creates the conditions for the exchange of information in this direction.

The agreement provides for the exchange of information about citizens located in the territories of the countries, persons adopted or restored to the citizenship of the two states, as well as the exchange of experience and the provision of practical assistance.

In addition, a Protocol amending the Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan on mutual visa-free travel of citizens was signed.

The Protocol provides for an increase in the length of stay of citizens of the States without mandatory registration up to 30 days, as well as a stay up to 90 days after crossing the state borders. Earlier, the national legislation provided for the mandatory registration of Azerbaijani citizens in the internal affairs department within 5 days from the day of stay.

Also at a meeting of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan with head of the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan Vusal Huseynov, they discussed current issues of cooperation in the field of migration and measures for the implementation of the signed agreements.

“The signed international documents will not only enhance the interaction of our services, but also strengthen the friendship of our peoples by simplifying migration requirements. They will also expand business contacts of citizens of our countries and will contribute to the development of the tourism industry,” Yerlan Turgumbayev summed.

During the visit, Yerlan Turgumbayev met with Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Vilayet Eyvazov, and discussed interagency cooperation, as well as its prospects.

The Ministers noted the high level of police cooperation in many areas of operational activities both in a bilateral format and within the framework of international structures.
