Kazakhfilm’s two films won prizes at Film Festival in Spain

Yesterday’s premiere of the Kazakh-language version of the film “The Girl and the Sea” by Azizjan Zairov and Mukhamed Mamyrbekov), held at Bekmambetov Cinema, saw Arman Asenov, president of the Kazakhfilm film studio, honored worker of Kazakhstan, announce that the film received the award “Best Film" in the "Panorama" section of the Asian Film Festival Barcelona in November 2019 in Barcelona (Spain), Strategy2050.kz informs with reference to Kazakhfilm’s press service.

Also, the prize “For the best scenario” was awarded to the picture “Aruakh” (“Spirit”) by Khuat Akhmetov. Both movies were made at the Sh.Aimanov Kazakhfilm film studio following the order of the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The social drama “The Girl and the Sea” tells about the difficult fate of a girl named Assel with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, about her dreams, about love and family. She meets a guy Takhir with the same physical issue. They fall in love and plan to have a family. But they face many obstacles on their road to the dream ...

The film has successfully screened in several international film festivals, winning the prize “For Best Actress” (Dinara Sharipova) at the Romford film festival in 2019 in London, the special prize from the public figure Karina Khabirova in the nomination “Social and motivational cinema” and the special prize “For the realization of a dream” from the Ministry of Family and Labor of the Republic of Bashkortostan (actor Takhir Umarov) at the 4th International Film Festival “Silver Akbuzat” in 2019 in Ufa, Bashkortostan.

The film "Aruakh" is about the fateful meeting of two main characters - old Agatay and an orphan boy. Assanali Ashimov, the Kazakh cinema master and USSR people’s artist, is the author of the idea and performed the leading role in the film, who received the prize for best actor at the Open Russian Film Festival “Kinoshock” for his role in “Aruakh”. “Shynyrau” by Zhanabek Zhetiruov, “Satash” by Tulegen Baitukenov and “On the Edge” by Aldiyar Bayrakimov were also screened at the Festival.
