Kazakh youth chess team wins 4th place in Youth Olympiad – 2019
The chess team from Kazakhstan won the 4th place in the Youth Olympiad – 2019 taking place in the Turkish city of Çorum, Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to the Kazakhstan Chess Federation press service.
The best chess teams from 48 countries competed in the Youth Olympiad – 2019. The Kazakh chess team lost one match out of 9, and was placed behind the teams from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Belarus.
“This is the best performance of our youth chess team in the history of Kazakh chess, but they could perform better. Luck is what they needed,” Anuar Issmagambetov, a coach of the Kazakh youth chess team, said.
He went on to say that this is a good result for further achievements.
Each team included 4 chess players: three boys and one girl. The Kazakh team was represented by Kazybek Nogerbek, Bibisara Assaubayeva, Arystan Issanzhulov and Nurgali Nazerke.
“The Olympiad was a landmark, with Kazakh young chess players winning 4 medals. Nurgali Nazerke and Bibisara Assaubayeva were second and third among girls, Arystan Issanzhulov was the best on 3rd board, and Nurgali Nazerke won bronze on 4th board,” Irina Grishchenko, executive director at the Kazakhstan Chess Federation, said.
