Kazakh theatres saw 3 million visitors in 2019
In 2019, the total number of theatres amounted to 65, including 52 state and 13 private theaters, against 68 in 2018, Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to Ranking.kz.
The total number of 16.6 thousand performances was offered to the audience, 0.2% less compared to a year earlier.
The top-3 theatrical institutions by number include drama theatres (35), puppet theaters (12) and theaters of young spectators (5).
Last year saw Kazakh theaters presenting 343 new plays (350 a year earlier).
2.9 million people visited theatrical plays, 3.9% more than a year earlier. Of these, 1.3 million viewers were children (43.4%).
Large cities with best access to cultural life accommodate most enthusiastic theater-goers, so Almaty saw 603.7 thousand visitors, Nur-Sultan - 410.6 thousand and Shymkent - 304 thousand spectators.
