Kazakh PM inspected major infrastructure projects
Kazakh PM Askar Mamin paid a working visit to Eastern Kazakhstan, Almaty and Karaganda regions to examine the implementation of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s instructions given during his visits to the regions, Strategy2050.kz informs referring to the press service of the Prime minister.
Special attention is paid to the State programme Nurly Zhol, initiated by first Kazakh President – National Leader Nursultan Nazarbayev in a bid to ensure the country’s transport infrastructure’s sustainable development.
The Ayagoz district, Eastern Kazakhstan, the Prime minister got familiarized with the work of the KAZ Minerals Aktogay, which operates in the Aktogay mine – one of the largest undeveloped copper fields in the world. There are 1.7 billion tons of mineral resources in the field, including 5.8 million tons of copper. Aktogay mining and processing integrated plant’s capacity is 25 million tons of processed copper per year, rising to twice that by 2021.
In Eastern Kazakhstan, Askar Mamin reviewed the project for building the road Ust-Kamenogorsk-Taldykorgan, 198 km of which are slated for opening in this year. The 763 km road will be fully opened by 2020. The reconstruction works of the road Kalbatau-Maikapshagay, with 45 km opening by the year’s end, are under way.
While visiting Ust-Kamenogorsk, the Prime minister toured the Centre for Oncology and Surgery, the Center for Robotic Surgery, Angiosurgery and Transplantology under the Eastern Kazakhstan Special Medical Centre, the Inter-ministerial Situation and Investment Centre of Eastern Kazakhstan’s Governor. The Prime minister inspected the showroom for holding presentations on the region’s investment capacity, digitalization development in the industry, as well as the implementation of Startup-projects by students. It also situates the innovation center Jastar Time, where 5-11th grade students are taught IT, including 2D/3D graphics, programming, video creation and others.

In Almaty region, the Government Head was presented the information on the reconstruction of the eastern part of the road Ust-Kamenogorsk-Taldykorgan with a length of 314km, and the construction project of the 182km road Usharal-Dostyk.
In Karaganda region, the Prime minister inspected the works on the section of the road Karaganda-Balkhash, 40 km of which will be commenced this year, and the entire road will be operational by 2020. The works on the Karaganda-Temirtau and Bypassing Karaganda will have been completed by the year’s end, allowing for 61 km roads be operational.
The Prime minister instructed to speed up the road construction works in Eastern Kazakhstan, Almaty and Karaganda regions, stressing the importance of quality transport infrastructure.
“We need to open the Taldykorgan-Ust-Kamenogorsk and Karaganda-Almaty roads in the next year,” the PM said.
The implementation of the above infrastructure projects offers additional possibilities to develop the Kazakh economy.
