Kazakh PM Askar Mamin receives Director General of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev
Prime Minister Askar Mamin as met with the Director General of the State Corporation Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, primeminister.kz informs.
“Nuclear cooperation is crucial to the bilateral relations of our countries. Joint work on multiple fronts is underway,”Askar Mamin said.
There are 5 Kazakh-Russian joint uranium mining enterprises in Kazakhstan: Zarechnoye Joint Venture, Karatau LLP, Akbastau Joint Venture, South Mining Chemical Company Joint Venture, Khorasan-U Joint Venture LLP, that produced 8 427 tons of uranium in 2018 (38.8% of Kazakhstan’s uranium output), and 6645.8 tons of uranium for 9 months of this year.
The sides have discussed the implementation of the comprehensive program of Russian-Kazakh cooperation in the field of the peaceful uses of atomic energy, including the state and prospects of interaction in the field of uranium mining and enrichment, scientific, technical and innovative development, as well as the IAEA Bank of Low Enriched Uranium.
