Kazakh National Security Committee: a group of terrorists detained in Kazakhstan
The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan in the cities of Karaganda and Taraz has arrested a group of terrorists, Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Committee.
“27 January 2020, in the cities of Karaganda and Taraz the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan arrested 5 destructive religious movement followers for 2 months on suspicion of terrorism and with the approval of the court,” the Committee reports.
All the arrested persons were previously convicted of serious and especially serious crimes.
“Criminal proceedings have been instituted against these persons on the facts of the creation, leadership of a terrorist group and participation in its activities (Article 257 of the Criminal Code), as well as propaganda of terrorism (Article 256 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, the group was formed to commit terrorist acts within the country, including in crowded places,” reads the report.
The investigation is continuing.
