According to Kanat Alpysbayev, Managing Director for Transport and Logistics, National Welfare Fund Samruk Kazyna, Kazakh low-cost carrier Fly Arystan’s average 1-kilometer tariffs are 4 times cheaper than the tariffs of the same European low-cost carriers, the Strategy2050.kz correspondent informs.

Samruk Kazyna owns two major Kazakh airlines – Air Astana and its subsidiary low-cost carrier Fly Arystan and Qazaq Air, with total 41 aircraft, over 5 thousand employees, 78 directions, including 44 international and 34 domestic ones.

“The airlines’ capacities and fleets are about to double by the end of the year, allowing for additional sales of over 100 thousand air tickets at low tariffs”, he said.

In 2020, the Fund’s aircraft number will reach 47 planes, of which Fly Arystan will operate 10 aircraft, leading to 63% and 14% increases in domestic and international flights respectively.

He went on to say that the Kazakh low-cost carrier had intensified the domestic airports’ activities, with 7 airports across Kazakhstan increasing their passenger flows by up to 20% in May this year.

“Kazakh low-cost carrier Fly Arystan’s average 1-kilometer tariffs are 4 times down the tariffs of the same European low-cost carriers. More than 60% of the tickets are set at a low tariff, not exceeding 10 thousand tenge”, Alpysbayev said.

According to him, Air Astana’s average tariffs are also 4 times low compared to those of foreign airlines.

He accentuated some issues the industry facing, they are the provision of subsidies to the airports with low payloads, visa-regime liberalization, training skilled personnel.
