Kazakh Foreign Ministry addresses UN Security Council
The United Nations Security Council held debates on the cooperation of the UN with the regional organizations as the CSTO, SCO and CIS in counter-terrorism on 25 September 2019 in New York, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry informs.
Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi took part in the debates and delivered a statement.
He dwelled on that during its presidency of the UN Security Council, Kazakhstan placed special attention to the counter-terrorism issues.
On the initiative of first Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev the Code of Conduct for reaching a world free of terrorism was worked out, that was joined by 84 UN member-States.
The Kazakh Foreign Minister also partook in other UN events.
While addressing to the Conference on Facilitating the Entry into Force of CTBT, He stressed the historic role of the decision adopted by the first Kazakh President on the closure of the Semipalatinsk test site that paved the way to the adoption of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.
At the same time, the foreign minister outlined the active role of Kazakhstan in overcoming the challenges and hurdles emerging economies face at the 18th High-Level Meeting of Ministers of Developing Countries, where Kazakhstan has been selected the next global Chair for 2020-21.
