Kazakh, Emirates aviation authorities held talks to begin regular flights
The Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development is working to attract new airlines to Kazakhstan as part of the implementation of the introduced open skies regime, the Ministry’s Civil Aviation Committee informs.
13-14 November 2019 saw the negotiations take place between the Kazakh and Emirates aviation authorities, involving the representatives of Fly Dubai, Emirate Airlines, Etihad Airways, Air Astana, SCAT, as well as the airports of Karaganda and Almaty.
The talks resulted in a legal framework, granting the designated carriers of the two countries the right to fly with fifth freedom of the air under the open skies regime recently introduced in Kazakhstan. According to the agreements, the designated UAE carriers have the right to run air flights on a regular basis with fifth freedom of the air from the Kazakh cities Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktau, Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Taraz, Petropavlovsk, and Semey.
The information indicates the Emirate Airlines is about to begin running scheduled flights en route Dubai – Aktau, and to open direct scheduled flights between the two countries once it receives new A330, A350 aircrafts in 2021.
In line with the 1 November 2019 instructions of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the open skies regime was introduced in the airports of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Aktau, Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Taraz, Petropavlovsk , Semey, removing the flight restrictions and allowing foreign airlines fly with fifth freedom of the air. The open skies regime is due to last 3 years with a further extension.
